Fans of sexy fan service have several great options this season, from gender-bending Oniichan wa Oshimai to gender-bending Ayakashi Triangle to… species-bending My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog...? Today let’s explore the third offering, and see if it’s a fun new approach to presenting eye candy to fans, or if the animation studio has screwed the pooch.
What Should Fans Make of My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog?
My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog (Japanese title Inu ni Nattara Suki na Hito ni Hirowareta, which is shortened to InuHiro) is the story of a boy who gets inexplicably trapped in the body of a dog. Things are looking pretty ruff for our hero, but fortunately, he gets adopted by his crush at school, Inukai-san. Before he knows it, he’s got a harem of three girls and is livin’ the pug life!
The sexy camera angles start immediately. Thanks to Pochita’s conveniently low angle, we get plenty of choice views of Inukai-san as she undresses to put her new doggo in the bath, or prepares to take him for a walk, or gets jealous of another girl and invites him inside her skirt. Inukai-san is a true “dog lover.”
Inukai-San’s Dog features short episodes of 11 minutes, and follows the usual censored-for-normal-broadcast model, with the uncensored version available to fans through “other means.” HiDive is streaming the anime in the U.S., but only the censored offering. Interestingly, the first uncensored version fans were able to find online was streamed in Germany. I guess this says something unique about Germans?
(At least this show has an uncensored version available. I wanted to watch Ayakashi Triangle but since there’s only a censored version, it’s basically unwatchable until the Blu-ray gets released.)
A Cursed Premise for an Anime?
I’ve been watching anime long enough to know that Westerners will generally not react well to themes of human/dog attraction, and sure enough, I found a ton of articles calling for this “controversial” anime to be canceled. I am positive a lot of fans would have been on board with last season’s sexy Renai Flops anime but got turned off by a scene involving an amorous dog in episode one.
How Are Fans Reacting to My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog?
It’s the most degenerate and embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen and is basically not fit for human consumption. See you all next week.
I think it is really good that this is only 11 minutes.
Miyazaki was right. Anime was a mistake.
I enjoy it. Then again, I loved Kennel Tokorozawa.
I don’t like it at all, but I think the piece of shit localizers should do their job right for fans who do like this show.
It’s as trash as you expect it to be and worse. I’m watching this purely for the sake of seeing how people react to it.
I guess I love it… for its ridiculousness.
Omfg, wtf. 😂😂😂
