The Spring 2022 anime season has been a surprisingly good one, with quite a few shows worth watching. It’s also been pretty enjoyable from the point of view of anime fan service, those fun moments where viewers are treated to sexy camera angles of jiggling boobs or carefully selected upskirt shots, which serve to “grease the wheels” and get the attention of fans early in a new season. Let’s explore what the best visual fan service moments this season have been!
Whenever I start to research posts like these, I always find comments by fans complaining about “gratuitous fan service” almost making them drop a show. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I tend to think some fan service is good for the industry for a few reasons.
- First, it provides a quick shot of serotonin to the brain that causes fans to feel positive about new characters they’re just meeting. That can mature into a more durable emotional connection later.
- Similarly, fan service provides light-hearted comedy which can make us feel positive about the characters we’re seeing, helping draw us into the story in an overcrowded anime landscape.
- Tut-tutting pantyshots to show what an upstanding person you are online is all good, but without ground-breaking shows like Sailor Moon using upskirt camera angles to make sure the boys were tuning in each week, anime might not be the incredibly popular genre it is today.
What Were the Best Anime Fan Service Moments of This Anime Season?
The first anime fan service I became aware of this season was Yuusha, Yamemasu, which helped the show stand out early in the season. Are you watching this?
Perhaps the most interesting fan service of the Spring 2022 anime season has been Summertime Rendering, a show that was funded by none other than Disney for its Disney+ platform in Asia. I’m paying close attention to when and how this series will get distributed internationally, considering its “Disney” affiliation.

One of the most adorable shows of the Spring 2022 anime season has been Love After World Domination, a romantic comedy about the leader of a sentai fighting hero team falling in love with his arch-nemesis and secretly dating her. We got to see many cute (and sexy) moments between the two characters.
RPG Real Estate is a show about cute girls doing cute things… and real estate! In a magical fantasy world, the characters help find places for the town’s various creatures to live, while giving us sexy visual moments along the way.
The word kunoichi (lit. “one of nine”) is a term for a female ninja, because くノ一 looks like the character for “woman” (女). And Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune no Uchi is a cute show about loli ninja girls if you need that in your life.
What if you found out you had been accidentally switched at birth with another baby, and that the family that raised you wasn’t really yours? If it’s anime we’re talking about, a drama about whether you could bang your not-related-by-blood sister would be on the menu.

One of the most welcome anime series of the season to me has been the return of Ikki Tousen, the high-quality series that offers sexy anime fan service in just about every shot.
Another fun series to offer some fan service moments is The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody, about a powerful demon lord who wants to experience life as a generic villager, and ends up with cute girls fawning all over him.
Season 2 of Science Fell in Love So I Tried to Prove It has been a lot of fun, with some interesting visual eye candy for fans, too.

Considering what happened in Goblin Slayer, I expected there to be a huge Twitter/Tumbler blow-up over Skeleton Knight in Another World, but I’ve seen very little reaction to it. Maybe haters are catching on to the fact that attacking a show brings it a lot more attention than just ignoring it?
Date a Live season IV has also been a fun anime to keep up with, with all the sexy waifus we could ask for. If you’re a fan, browse our figures here!
No one watches Spy x Family for the fan service, but it’s nice when we get a little, anyway.
