The Atelier series of video games have a long and storied involvement with console and handheld gaming. With twenty-two games under the series’ belt, there’s been no shortage of games no matter where and what you play. The only area Atelier hasn’t made much headway in is the mobile games market. The series only has three mobile games to its name, including a mobile port of Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg. Now one of Atelier’s rare mobile games will finally make its way to the West with Atelier Online: Alchemists of Bressisle.
Boasting a brand new story, the game follows the player character as they attend the lauded Royal Academy of the Sciences on Bressisle Island. As an alchemy student, they’re looking to make the world better through alchemy. The school includes an interesting cast of characters, all named after various plant species, including St. John’s Wort and Majoram. The art style captures all of the usual Atelier charms, but certain character designs along with the school setting definitely give off a Fire Emblem: Three Houses vibe.
While the usual Atelier cycle of collecting ingredients, fighting monsters, synthesizing, and completing quests will make up the majority of gameplay, developer Boltrend also promises that the game will include both online play and co-op modes. Your favorite characters from previous Atelier series also return, including Rorona, Totori, and Ryza. While there’s no word yet on how the gacha elements of the game will work, they’ll most likely be a player’s best bet in obtaining their favorite characters.
The game is currently scheduled for release on July 8th and is available now for preorder through Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store. Preorder bonuses include important in-game items, such as one Moonlight Horn, six Apple Juices, and ten thousand Ethers.
For those looking to get their Atelier fix before the mobile game releases, J-List has Atelier figurines of several characters, including Ryza. We’ve got our best girl in both Nendoroid and 1/7 versions, and they’re slated to release in July, making them the perfect companion for your new alchemic adventure.
