Cute girls doing cute fishing things? Sure, why not?
A brand new CGDCT series has been announced for the winter 2022 anime season and it’s a real catch! Based on the manga of the same name, Slow Loop, this series tells the story of two girls who become related when their parents get married. At first, the girls aren’t sure what to make of each other, but eventually, they bond over their mutual love of fishing. As you can see, they have already released a key visual showing the girls having fun together.
Set to premiere in January 2022, the animation in Slow Loop will be produced by studio CONNECT (Strike The Blood) with Noriaki Akitaya serving as the director. They’ll be working off scripts written by Yuka Yamada and character designs provided by Shoko Takimoto. Sadly, we don’t know who will fill out the cast as yet, but stay tuned to the J-List blog for more information as the premiere date gets closer.
The manga has been serialized in Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine —which also houses some other fantastic series that have been turned into equally fantastic anime, such as Hanayamata and YuruCamp — since September 2018 and has been collected into four volumes as of January 2021. No official English release is available for this one yet.
It’s absolutely no secret that I’m a fan of CGDCT series. I absolutely loved K-ON! and YuruCamp and Kinmoza and Hanayamata and Non Non Biyori and… well, I think you get my point by now. The fact is that CGDCT series are a staple of my anime diet and, while I’m not really much of a fisher myself, I feel confident that this series will be a fun little romp. You might just fall for this one, hook, line, and sinker.
