Banished From The Heroes’ Party Anime Delayed to October

Another day, another series getting delayed until later this year.

In an announcement that hit the Internet on Thursday, May 20th, it was revealed that the upcoming fantasy series Banished from the Heroes’ Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside — there really needs to be a shorter title for this one — will be delayed until October due to “various reasons”. No further information regarding those reasons were provided.

Banished from the Heroes’ Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside started as a light novel written by Zappon and illustrated by Yasumo. It was first available on the novel publishing site Shousetsuka ni Naro before being published professionally on the Sneaker Bunko imprint, starting in June 2018. In May 2018, a manga adaptation began running in Monthly Shonen Ace, with art by Masahiro Ikeno. The light novel is up to eight volumes in Japan as of March 2021 and three volumes in English as of May 2021. Meanwhile, the manga is up to five volumes in Japan as of November 2020.

The anime adaptation was first announced in November 2020. Studios Wolfsbane and Flad will jointly produce the animation, with Makoto Hoshino serving as the director. They will work off scripts written by Megumi Shimizu and character designs by Ruriko Watanabe.

Banished from the Heroes’ Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside is a rare treat for anime fans these days; it’s a fantasy series that isn’t an isekai! Rather than having a hero who has reincarnated into a new world thanks to a sudden run-in with Truck-Kun, the main character is an honest to goodness adventurer! The character in question is named Red and unfortunately, we join him as he is kicked out of his party. Left with nothing, he decides to live a quiet life in the countryside and open an apothecary while hiding his former life.
