What better way to celebrate the month of love than with murderous giant insects!… Wait, what?
The staff behind the theatrical anime adaptation of Island of Giant Insects has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund an English dubbed “final” version of the movie. The campaign launched at 7pm Pacific on February 14th and will run through March 15th, giving you an entire month to scrape up your spare change and bring this project to life. You could even appear in the anime itself if you’re willing to pledge enough!

According to the project video seen above, there are over five different supporter levels which will get you items including digital thank you letters and wallpapers, the official soundtrack, a copy of the movie on blu-ray, hand-drawn key frames, and t-shirts. For those of you with a bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket, there are also chances to actually appear in the movie!
If you’re one of the first 38 people to pledge at least 48,000 yen ($437 USD), your scream will be inserted into the movie. Be one of the first twelve people to pledge 200,000 yen ($1,822 USD) and the staff will draw you as a character in the movie. Be the first to pledge 400,000 yen ($3,644 USD) and you will get to provide the voice for the character Akira.
The survival horror story follows a group of students and faculty who were all flying somewhere for a school trip when their plane goes down. The survivors of the crash find themselves on a deserted island that is ruled by giant insects that aren’t afraid to make humans into their next meal.
Island of Giant Insects was released in Japan on January 10th, with Crunchyroll streaming it on their site outside Japan. It features animation from studio Passione and is directed by Takeo Takahashi with Shigeru Morita handling the scripts.
