Two very popular smug girls continue to circulate around the internet. We have the blessed Takagi and her playful teasing, and we have the worst kouhai ever Nagatoro and her sadistic bullying.

Best Smug

The hit manga Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san is about a boy named Nishikata trying to get back at Takagi who always teases him. He fails hilariously each time but it’s always enjoyable to see the two interacting. The manga even has an anime adaptation which is currently airing.

A newer manga Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san, is about a senpai getting bullied by his junior, Nagatoro. Nagatoro bullies her senpai and he puts up with it because he’s in love with her. While the manga is relatively new, it’s done well to be serialized and published. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it be adapted into an anime after a few volumes are out.

Something I find a tad strange is that there is something alluring about Nagatoro as a character, however, she’s also equally unappealing. Perhaps this is why people continue to want more of her, and admittedly, I do too. There’s something about her sadistic personality that has me begging for more despite me disliking her as a character.

Takagi is pure and a fun character while Nagatoro is appalling and mischievous. The two girls are nearly polar opposites and I guess that’s what the community wanted. There are fans of both series, but which are you? Do you prefer the best girl Takagi, or do you prefer the tanned bully Nagatoro?
